About CTM
WHO WE ARE
Elias Denison (Eli) is a young man in his mid-twenties. He came to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ when he was 16, introduced by some of his closest friends. At the age of 17, God gave him a desire to be involved in mission work to some capacity for a career. Since then God has moved him around and opened up opportunities to be at work in full-time ministry. In 2007, he moved to Montana to attend Montana Wilderness School of the Bible (www.mwsb.org), where he continued to work full-time for four years after graduation in 2008. He is currently residing in Bozeman, Montana.
During his years at the school, God opened doors for him to become involved in mission work in Africa, first in Liberia in November and December of 2007 working with Water of Life Liberia. Then in December of 2008, God again opened the doors for him to go to Africa, though this time to the other side of the continent and completely alone. This lesson in faith led him into partnership with a wonderful pastor named David Mutei, and brought him into contact with the orphans in his care.
During the time that he spent in Kenya, God taught him about what it meant to love in the same way that God loved, and in doing so, led him to raise money to build an orphanage for Pastor David and the children. Upon returning a year later in December of 2009, he was awestruck by the changes that God had brought about as a result of that work and dedicated himself to the formation of CTM for the purpose of championing the causes of the "least of these" and ultimately to shine the light of the gospel in a dark and hurting world.
Micah and Christa met each other in Portland, Oregon while individually serving the homeless through the ministry of a local church. They each saw the others’ heart for loving and helping the hurting and when they got married in 2000, they continued to be involved in the lives of the orphans and widows they came into contact with. This has drawn them into leading mission trips to Mexico, Vancouver, BC, and Portland, OR to work with the homeless in those areas.
Their heart and passion for God moves them to take seriously the words of Jesus when He says in Matthew 25:35-36 "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, i was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." Also in James 1:27 which says, "Religion that our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." CTM is an avenue where they feel that they can do that very thing.
A few years ago, while working at MWSB, Micah began an outreach and discipleship team at MWSB called "Imago Dei". His desire was to teach the students how to live out their theology instead of just talking about it. He has taken the team to serve in South Africa and Mozambique as well as doing ministries with the neighbors and local rescue mission. One of his desires is to continue to see people live out practical theology through discipleship programs orchestrated by CTM. Micah is currently a faculty member at Montana Bible College while pursuing an MA in Biblical and Theological Studies. He and Christa reside in Bozeman, Montana with their two children.
Jonathan and Caitlin Phillips met while studying at MWSB in 2007. Jonathan grew up in Great Falls, Montana, hunting, fishing, and enjoying time spent with his close-knit family. Caitlin was raised in Federal Way, Washington with her two brothers, she enjoyed sports, theatre, and music. Both were selected to be a part of the second year program at MWSB, to learn more about leadership and to experience more outdoor classes. During their second year, they developed a deeper friendship with one another and the other students they were learning with. Both ended up working at a summer camp in Texas during the summer of 2009. During the years they spent working and learning together, they grew in their faith respectively and developed hearts of deep commitment to the Lord and to His work. They were married in November of 2011.
Both of them developed strong relationships with Micah, Christa, and Eli, following the progress of CTM and helping out in many unofficial capacities. At the beginning of 2012, they began working with CTM officially, hoping to use their gifts and abilities to serve God’s people both domestically and abroad. Also residing in Bozeman, Jonathan works full-time in construction and Caitlin works part-time as a nanny.
WHAT WE DO
"Certain Truth Ministries, Inc. is established for the purpose of communicating the gospel of Jesus Christ as the only means of meeting the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of a broken and hurting world. Specifically, CTM will serve through three main avenues: religious missions, educational services, and humanitarian relief. The religious focus is directed toward evangelism, church planting, and mission outreach. CTM seeks to further educational opportunities through the founding of schools, biblical study curriculum, and discipleship programs. Lastly the humanitarian focus of CTM will strive to meet the tangible needs of the impoverished. Through these three emphases, CTM hopes to deepen the relationship with and understanding of Jesus Christ both for those who serve and those who are being served. The end result of such work being that the name of Jesus Christ is magnified and glorified on this earth." -adapted from Certain Truth Ministries, Inc. bylaws
